Last night was a first…

Last night I left work early to go assist in a search and rescue operation for an injured hiker in Bankhead National Forest. This was really my first true experience in a situation like this, and these SAR folks were amazing. I don’t know how much my being there helped in any of it, as they’d located the hiker by the time myself and others went in to assist, but I’m thankful to have been included, and wishing I could have done more. Thankful the hiker was alive, stable, and didn’t have to stay the night solo in that spot.

There is much more I could say (my insatiable need to document/record events), but for now I’ll keep those details to myself.
